Physics ยท Chapter 01

๐Ÿƒ Motion & Speed

Distance, time, velocity in action.

๐Ÿ’ก The Core Idea

Motion means an object's position is changing over time. Speed tells us how fast โ€” distance covered per second.

If a car covers 60 km in 1 hour, its speed is 60 km/h. The formula is simple:

speed = distance รท time

When speed has a direction too, we call it velocity. A car going 60 km/h north has both speed and direction.

A red car cruising on the highway. Speed ร— Time = Distance covered.

Try It Yourself

Experiment

Slide the speed and time. Watch how distance changes โ€” and see the car move faster in the animation above.

20 m/s
5 s
Speed ร— Time100 m
So in 5s at 20 m/s, the car travels 100 metres.
